Only a few decades ago, the world used to chastise America for having an obesity epidemic and all of the associated health risks. Now, we see waistlines expanding in places as far away as East Asia where people were once thought to have been blessed with the ‘slim’ gene. This lends strong evidence to the theory that the globalisation of the western diet is the real culprit. Governments should double their efforts to highlight the dangers of a poor diet.
