(intransitive or transitive verb) to have formal discussions with someone in order to reach an agreement with them
(就…)談判,(就…)磋商

The government has refused to negotiate with the strikers.
政府拒絕與罷工者談判。

(transitive verb) to manage to travel along a difficult route
設法穿過,越過(難走的路段)

The only way to negotiate the muddy hillside is on foot.
要越過那條泥濘的山坡只能靠步行。

(transitive verb) to deal with something difficult
解決(難題)

The company’s had some tricky problems to negotiate in its first year in business.
