IELTS 2 Test 2 Task 1 (version 2)

The bar chart gives information about the number of hours of leisure time per week enjoyed by males and females of different categories of employment for the year 1998 to the year 1999. The five employment categories reported include full-time employment, part-time employment, unemployed, retired, and housewives.

From the chart, it is apparent that men had slightly more free time than women of the same employment category.

It is of no surprise that unemployed or retired people enjoyed the most fee time regardless of sex – 85 hours per week for men and 75 hours for women. The next highest amount of leisure time was enjoyed by housewives (50 hours), followed closely by males who were in full-time employment (47 hours).

Women who were employed either part-time or full-time were afforded the least amount of free time – 40 hours and 38 hours respectively. Househusbands and men in part-time employment went unreported for the period.
