IELTS 10 test B task 1

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing on behalf of my family and friends to express our gratitude to you and your staff for a wonderful evening last Friday.

My family, especially my father, have always been fans of Indian cuisine, so it was only natural that we chose to celebrate his 80th birthday at an Indian restaurant. However, not having yet visited your newly-opened restaurant, we were unsure if we were making the right choice. When my wife initially phoned to inquire as to whether your restaurant could cater for our party of 20, she spoke to Henry, who assured us that you had a special area allocated for parties and that it was something that your staff were well-prepared for.

They didn’t disappoint. As soon as we entered the restaurant, Aisha welcomed each and every one of us with a beaming smile and showed us to our seats. Not only that, but she handled our somewhat difficult orders with finesse.

We found the food itself to be authentic and delectable, with just the right amount of flavour. My father has lived in India for several years and thought that it tasted even better than what he used to eat in Delhi. Kudos to the chef!

All in all, we are glad we chose to celebrate at Raj’s Palace. Please pass on our gratitude to your excellent staff.

Yours sincerely,

Robert Carlson
